Everyone told her to step down,
To let alone the sparkling ladder;
To settle, to refrain.
But she didn’t listen,
She couldn’t listen.
Her nature, so bright,
Called from above…
Step by step,
She climbed and climbed.
Her white dappled dress
Shook in the harshest winds,
But she couldn’t help but
Elevate.
She left all burdens behind,
All the words swarming in her head.
None of that.
So she finally
Reached the top
And her fingers could fumble
Among the stars,
Among the cosmic steams,
She could touch
The fabric of the Universe.

This poem was largely inspired by the song The Whole Of The Moon by The Waterboys. In addition, feel free to check out this very fine cover of the same song performed by The Killers.
